Most St. Peter's parishioners are well acquainted with organist George Langley's impressive skill on the organ, piano and as a vocalist, but he's also quite a percussionist, too!
A Master Warrant Officer with the Armed Forces Reserves, George is once again spending the summer in Ottawa, fulfilling his military duties on Parliament Hill. But instead of tinkling the ivories, he's pounding drumskins and clacking castanets!
But apparently, you can't keep him away from the organ keyboard for too long...
"I've been attending Trinity Anglican Church here in Ottawa and they gave me the key to come in and practice the organ," George explained in an email to St. Peter's staff. "But they also asked me if I was interested in subbing while their organist is on vacation, so I'll be playing the service this Sunday. It'll be special to serve God in my home-away-from-home."
Once an organist, always an organist, it seems.
