About a third of the buildings in the community of Jasper were destroyed by wildfire last month, and the Anglican Diocese of Calgary is suggesting three ways you can contribute to relief efforts.

  1. You can donate to various organizations via Canada Helps. Donations made to either the Canadian Red Cross or the Edmonton Community Foundation will be matched by federal and/or provincial governments, but we do not know where these funds will be allocated.
  2. Donate to the Anglican Diocese of Calgary before Aug. 31. Click this link, then select 'General' from the drop-down menu, then in the 'Send a message to this charity' field, type 'Jasper relief'. The diocese will forward all funds with this designation to the Diocese of Edmonton, which will ensure that donated funds go to ministry efforts in Jasper.
  3. Donate funds directly to the Diocese of Edmonton, via e-transfer (treasurer@edmonton.anglican.ca).

"Thank you all who have been in touch for your concern and care for our brothers and sisters in Jasper," said the Ven. Pilar Gateman, Executive Officer for the Diocese of Calgary, said in an email last week. "If you have any other questions, please feel free to forward them to us. In the meantime, please keep the people of Jasper in your prayers!"
